The Carlisle is a small and perfectly formed pub just off Wardour Street. Opened in the 19th century, this pub is rumoured to have been a favourite haunt for off duty ladies of the night. Those louche days have, rather like the pub’s old carpet which once sneered at rapper dancers, both been consigned to history. It’s now an outpost of old pub charm with a nice floor (sans carpet) and a bit of a drinkers’ oasis in amongst the style bars. They don’t serve food but you’re welcome to bring your own to eat with a pint of their beer.
